Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to check a builder in NSW?

An independent builder background check with Helios Project Management costs a fixed fee of $450 inc. GST. That covers licence and registration verification, insurance and home warranty checks, company history and financial red-flag screening, and dispute history review — with a written risk assessment and clear recommendation issued within 24 hours.

What information do I need to provide?

Just the builder’s business name, licence number if you have it, and any quote or contract front pages they have given you. After you book and pay online, you can upload everything securely in a couple of minutes — or email it to admin@heliospm.au.

How fast will I get the report?

Your written vetting report is issued within 24 hours of receiving your builder’s details. If we need anything else to complete the checks, we will contact you the same day.

How does it start?

Start with a free 15-minute call, or book and pay online if you already have the builder’s details ready. Send them through straight after payment and our consultant runs the full set of checks — your written risk assessment follows within 24 hours. Email support is included if anything in the findings is unclear, and you can add an optional 30-minute video walkthrough at booking.

Do you tell me to hire them or walk away?

You get a plain-English written risk assessment: what is on the public record, what looks thin, and what to ask the builder before you sign. We give you a clear recommendation on the risks — but the decision stays yours.

Can you check a builder outside NSW?

Our vetting service is built around NSW licensing, insurance and dispute records. If your builder operates in another state, contact us first and we will confirm what we can verify before you book.

Should I also get the contract reviewed?

Many clients pair the builder check with our fixed-fee building contract review. Vetting tells you if the builder is safe to engage; the contract review makes sure the deal you sign protects you.
